Finals Week Prayer 12/11/2012

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord God Almighty,

Maker of Heaven and Earth, Creator of all things, Leader of our lives, Healer of our hearts, Lover of our souls;

Guide, director, comforter, friend;

Lord, for so many of us our performance on these exams are so important.  For too many of us our performance on these exams are too important.  Help us to know our value and our worth outside of our grades.  Help us to see ourselves through your eyes and know that we were uniquely created by the God of the Universe, to know that we are loved, to know that an “A” or and “F” will not change your investment in us.  Help us to know that you are God and we are yours no matter what happens this week.

But Lord, do not let us use that as an excuse to waste our effort, energy and talent.  You have given us these abilities and help us to perform to the best of our abilities.  We don’t do this to earn your love but to honor and cherish you gifts.  Help us to make you proud.

Lord, remove the outside pieces of stress on our lives for this week.  We don’t need to be dealing with finals and housing issues, or finals and relationship issues, or finals and financial issues, or finals and anything else.  Give us peace in all the other areas of our lives so that we can truly be able to concentrate on our studies.

Lord, remove the anxiety that may interfere with our exam performance.  When we are taking the tests, help us to be able to think clearly and to recall accurately that which we know.  Help us to be able to reproduce the information well.  Help us to be able to write coherent essays.  Help us not to make careless mistakes.  Help our exams to truly showcase the time and effort and learning that has taken place this term.

We pray this in the strong and powerful name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

If you are a Drexel student struggling this week I will be available on campus Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.  Do not hesitate to call or email.
