Praying for Campuses (Part 8): Fasting Prayer

Recently, I have been concentrating on prayer.  Most of my posts have been applicable to anyone and everyone.  Now I want  to transition the conversation in the direction of specifically praying for colleges and universities.  The next 8 days I will be discussing the ways you can pray for a campus.  Even if you are not a student our colleges and universities need you prayers.  Please take time to pray for the students, faculty, professional staff and administration of the institutions that are so important within our culture.

There are many ways to pray. The following list is just a few examples of how you could pray effectively for your campus.

1)  Single Prayer

2)  Scripture Prayer

3)  Group Prayer

4)  Watchful Prayer

5)  Walking Prayer

6)  Boundary Prayer

These next two types of prayers should be followed by action if God so leads. They should be used especially before and during evangelistic action.

7)  Vigilant Prayer

8)  Fasting Prayer – Show God that you desire His presence more than you desire food. Fast to know God’s will. Fast to see a clear vision of what God purposes for your campus. Always fast for a specific reason. Acts 13:3; So after they had fasted and prayed they place their hands on them and sent them off.

So now that you have some ideas of how to pray for your campus, what should you pray for your campus? There are two important w ways to find this out. First, be in touch with the campus. Know what is happening there and know the needs of the campus. Secondly, be in touch with the Holy Spirit. Ask God to show you how to pray for your campus. Ask Him how He wants to move.
