A Prayer for Success During Drexel’s Finals Week

For those of you who are not familiar with the Drexel University calendar we are mostly on a quarter system.  So we have final exams four times a year.  Our Ten week Winter Term just ended and on Tuesday our Winter Finals begin.  As at any College or University finals week is a time of heightened stress and pressure so we greatly solicit your prayers for us in this moment.  This week I will be posting a prayer for some particular aspect of finals each day.  Please take the time to read through them and offer them up to the Lord for us.  If you are part of the Drexel academic community, I may not be as visible in my office this week as I usually am but I will be almost constantly available via email and/or phone.  Contact me if you need me.

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord God Almighty,  Maker of Heaven and Earth, Creator of all things,  Leader of our lives, Lover of our Souls,  Friend, Guide and Comforter,

Lord, as we come to you at this time and in this place we pray for our success during finals week.  Give us the ability to perform well.  Help us to do those things that are in our control that we need to do.  Help us to do them well.  Help us to be successful in completing our tasks of studying, and our projects.  Give us the ability to successfully reproduce what we know accurately on exams and tests.  Give us the verbal skills to accurately communicate our ideas through our papers and essays.  Give us success.

But Lord, there is a large part of our success that is not in our control.  Help our professors to look upon our work with favor.  Do not allow their personal flaws or biases or tiredness to negatively affect our success.  Help our professors to grade fairly and properly.  Help them to easily understand our answers.  Allow them to be appropriately generous and gracious with minor deviations.  Help the effort we put in to match the work we put out.  And help the work we put out to match the expectations of our professors.

We pray these things specifically, in the name of the savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
