A Prayer against Anxiety and Stress during Finals Week

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, God Almighty, Creator, Sustainer, Lover, Friend,

Lord, we come before you at this time in the middle of one of the busiest weeks of our lives.  During Finals there is a lot to do.  There is a lot to read, write, study, remember, say and produce.  Help us to manage the amount of work well.  Help us not to be overwhelmed by the enormity of the task(s).  Lord, let us look at the pile of things to do and be able to break it down into small achievable units in which we area always moving forward and never bogged down.  Give us the ability to cross things off our to-do list.

Lord, do not let the pressure of everything interfere with our performance.  Give us a clear mind.  Do not let anxiety and stress limit retention, memory, and/or common sense decisions.  Help us to make it to every finals and appointment on time.  Help us to remember to eat and sleep and do all those other little things that sometimes get put on the back burner during times like this.  This can be an extremely chaotic time.  Help the chaos to be happening around us and within us.  Give us a sense of peace in the midst of the week.

Lord, when we do freak out, help us to turn to you.  Help us to be able to put our pencils and pens aside for a moment and bend to the Lord of the universe on our knees.  Bring us to prayer as we go through.  You have brought to Drexel so that we can succeed in  weeks such as these.  Help us not forget the God who brought us here during the time we need you most.  Be an ever present help and comforter during this time.

Lord, as we walk through this week holding your hand, help us to be a shining light for our peers and colleagues.  Help others see the strength that is available in our God from the way we hold our heads in the midst of stress.  Help our words bring peace and not chaos.  Help us to have so much grace at this time that we are able to bless others and not only just make it through ourselves.  Lord, allow us to truly make a difference in the lives of those around us during this week.

And most importantly, through our actions, through our performance, through our attitude, through our words, may the Lord of the universe be lifted high even as we go through finals weeks.  We pray these things in the strong name of Jesus Christ the one who had a week much worse than this and came out of it on the other side of death victoriously!  Amen.
